Magical Sicilian red blend from rockstar woman winemaker, Ariana Occhipinti.
+ GRAPES: 70% Frappato +30% Nero d'Avola. Certified organic estate vines, averaging 20+ years old. Grown in the shadow of the active Mount Etna volcano in southeastern Sicily.
+ PROFILE: Fresh. Tart strawberry, volcanic cherry, brambly berries, woodland herbs. Polished and pretty, with an edge. Enjoy me with a slight chill.
+ FUNDAMENTALS: The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and co-fermented using wild yeast in concrete tanks. The wine is then aged in concrete tanks for an additional six months and bottled unfiltered. Low dose of sulfur added, just at bottling, for stabilization.
+ FUN FACT: 'SP68' is the Strada Provinciale 68, the Sicilian country road on which the Occhipinti winery lies.
