THE LION KING

Bordeaux with a story: 'Lions de Batailley' is the second-growth wine of Château Batailley and draws its name from the two stone lions who guard the gates of Château Batailley's main entrance in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux.

+ GRAPES: Left-bank Bordeaux blend: 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc.

+ PROFILE: Dry, rich, elegant. Ripe black cherry and red plum, lavender, and spice all come together with a silky, earthy finish. Age- and dinner-party worthy, but ready to drink out the gate.

+ ABOUT: Château Batailley, a 5th Grand Cru Classe of the classification of 1855, is the Castéja family's and Borie-Manoux’s flagship. It is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. Lions de Batailey comes mainly from younger vines that still average more than 40 years old, as well as vines issued from non-associated plots in the final Grand Vin blend.
